New metrics for benchmarking and analysis in Canada and beyond: an interactive Dimensions and Altmetric (Web) Workshop
mediaposted on 03.06.2020, 15:00 by Altmetric Engineering
A recording of the interactive Dimensions and Altmetric virtual workshop featuring real-life research data analysis use cases from Canadian organizations in lieu of the BRIC (Bibliometrics and Research Impact Community) Conference postponement. The research lifecycle is complex and nuanced, and subject to influence from many different areas.
A topic’s stage in development can be given much wider context when seen through more data points than just citations or publication output.
Taken together, Dimensions and Altmetric offer the richest set of data for understanding the research phenomena, bringing together over twenty disparate forms of research output, scholarly communication and evidence of impact. By exploring three subjects from different areas (medical, humanities and technology), we demonstrate the power of these tools and the insights that may be elicited.
